2 of my 3 turbine vents on my roof won t turn unless there s a stronger wind.
Roof turbines not turning.
Do i have a low pressure system.
If the vents are blocked by insulation boxes or.
If they spin freely but just sit there when on your roof i d say they aren t level.
When they re not installed level they don t turn.
Not all turbines will fit all roof pitches.
If the vent is rusted it may be sticking and not turning as it should and this can lead to water infiltration.
This is a standard turbine vent.
The new turbine needs hot air to flow out to turn the impellers.
Walking around my soffits yes i do have soffit vents and from the attic i can see sunlight in.
The maximum roof pitch is almost always printed on the box label.
I ve gone on the roof and white lithium greased both and but a level on them and they are pretty close to level.
The turbines are adjustable so that the spinning part is level even though the roof is slanted.
The hot air is exiting the roof through the louvers at each end of the roof as they were designed to do.
Climb up into your attic and look at the vents from the inside.
Finally be sure the ball bearings are permanently lubricated and sealed.
The one thing i ll mention is that turbine vents need to be installed perfectly level.
A turbine may fail to spin if the bearings become rusty or.
It doesn t take much wind to turn your turbine roof vents.
Examine the turbine from the exterior from the roof.
In the photo below the vent on the left wasn t level.
There may also be something near or in the vent that is stopping it from turning.
If yours aren t turning it s time to lubricate or replace entirely.
Also barely using my finger of course they spin freely no noise etc.
Crooked turbine vent small.
Since they are only 4 years old i m guessing they were replacements so maybe the wrong ones were installed not all turbines work with all roof pitches or these just haven t been leveled correctly.
Just hot air rising out of one will make it spin.
Do you see anything else that s wrong in the photo.
You may have to replace the turbine with an electric fan type of ventilator.
You can usually adjust the level by turning the turbine body.
My attic turbines are not turning step 1.
