The rake of a roof is the outer edge that runs from the eave to the ridge or peak of the roof. When water runs down the roof it pauses a moment before pouring off. When replacing shingles on a roof or constructing a new roof it is important to give proper consideration to flashing details on the drip and rake edges. The rake edge should be installed at the rakes above the underlay of the roof.
